SPEAKER: Jeffrey McCoy, Pacific Legal Foundation
TOPIC: Red Tape Rollback
Remember those cumbersome regulations that affect individuals and businesses that we’ve been hearing about, the ones the previous administration put in place to make all our lives more complicated? Jeffrey McCoy of the Pacific Legal Foundation will discuss regulation rollback and the Congressional Review Act. The topic touches a wide variety of regulations passed by administrative agencies. The current Congress has used the CRA to overturn regulations passed by the FCC, Dept. of Labor, Dept. of Education, and the Dept. of Interior. One recent use was when Congress and President Trump overturned an Obama-administration regulation that would prevent some Social Security recipients from purchasing firearms.
McCoy is an attorney at PLF’s nation headquarters in Sacramento where he works on cases involving environmental regulation and private property rights. He has litigated cases protecting individual liberty, the right to own and use property, limited and ethical government, and the free enterprise system. He is a native Californian, moved to Colorado at a young age, and returned to join PLF. Check out www.redtaberollback.com for additional background information on the CRA.

Welcome New Members… Esther Camilli, Margaret Maddock and Gay Winkelbrandt
Thanks to all who brought friends and potential new members to our recent meeting. Good work all! We're off to a good start with lots of enthusiasm for our new President and his plans to make our country great again. Let's continue to speak to friends, family or perhaps someone you run into while shopping. You would be surprised how many folks there are who think much like us. Perhaps they would like to attend our Picnic or the new member event in August. You are all doing great!
The 2017 Membership Rosters have gone to print. They will be distributed at the May meeting. If you are unable to be at the May meeting, members who do attend will help distribute them to their friends to save cost of mailing. Those who are out of town, will be mailed their roster. Please see Nancy Maier about the cost of purchasing an extra roster.
